“Peaceful Protest” – No Violence Outside GHQ, Says Imran Khan

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently in custody due to multiple cases against him, addressed the media today regarding the events of May 9, 2023.

Imran Khan clarified that he had directed his party to hold a peaceful protest outside the GHQ in cantonment in case of his arrest on May 9. He asserted that his party was not involved in any violence and claimed that all the violence was pre-planned.

A few days ago, the accountability court extended the remand of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for up to 10 days, instructing the NAB to present them again in the Toshakhana case on August 10.

Imran Khan further stated that CCTV footage could prove the innocence of PTI protesters, showing that they were not involved in any violence. He mentioned that he would approach the court in defense of his party.

While speaking to the media, he also criticized the government, accusing it of fearing a loss of power and wanting the army to eliminate the PTI. When asked about a rally in Islamabad, he said that his party would hold a rally in Swabi if permission was not granted for a rally in Islamabad.
