Empowering Women: Islamabad’s Pink Bus Initiative

Starting from August 7, 2024, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Pink Bus Service will be available for all students and teachers in Islamabad. This is a great initiative by the Government of Pakistan to empower women in the country and to emphasize the education of girls.

Many girls face difficulties in using local transport to get to their workplaces and educational institutions, as local transport often does not provide a safe or comfortable environment. Sometimes, parents do not allow their daughters to work or study because of these transport issues.

This effort by the government will help all females take small steps toward achieving their goals. According to the Ministry of Education, these buses will cover all major routes of Islamabad and will connect rural areas to urban centers.

To ensure the safety of girls, daily monitoring and evaluation will be conducted. Similar programs should also be introduced in other cities of Pakistan to empower women and help them become more career-oriented.
