People of Pakistan are suffering from high electricity bills, and now the government has announced another significant price increase starting in August.
A notification issued by the Finance Division states that consumers using up to 50 units per month will be charged the previous rate of Rs3.95 per unit, while the per unit price will be Rs7.74 for those consuming up to 100 units per month.
There is also relief for consumers using up to 200 units per month, as they will pay the same revised rate for three months until September.
Those consuming 200-300 units per month will have to pay an increased amount of Rs7.12 per unit, making the new price Rs34.26. Consumers using 301-400 units per month will face an increase of Rs7.02, bringing the new price to Rs39.15.
Those using 401-500 units per month will see an increase of Rs6.12, and they will have to pay Rs48.84 per unit.
Additionally, consumers will have to pay an additional tax. Pakistani people are concerned about the situation in the region in terms of energy supplies and what further steps they need to take to manage these price hikes.
In South Asia, Pakistan is suffering severely from energy supply issues because the government lacks foreign exchange to subsidize, and on the other hand, people do not have the money to pay high bills.
