“Crisis of the judiciary, by the judiciary and for the judiciary,” Bilawal Bhutto said in National Assembly

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, accused the judiciary of creating crises that disturb the parliament and cause constitutional issues. During his speech in the National Assembly, he expressed his view that in a country like Pakistan, even small issues can escalate into serious constitutional problems.

“This is a crisis of the judiciary, by the judiciary, and for the judiciary,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said. He also pointed out the opposition party, PTI, mentioning that it was not his decision to take their party’s symbol and that their party elections were incorrect. He emphasized that it was a decision made by the judiciary.

Furthermore, he accused the judiciary of continuously favoring PTI. “They [PTI] did not even seek the decision, and the Constitution does not permit the allocation of reserved seats in this manner,” Bilawal said. He continued by stating that the political behavior of certain politicians is affecting the capital city, Islamabad, preventing it from achieving its intended objectives.

Raising multiple concerns, he added that the judiciary is not only involved in judicial matters but is also constructing dams and even determining the prices of tomatoes and samosas. He also mentioned that while the judiciary acknowledged that the Bhutto trial was unfair, it has not taken adequate steps to correct the historical record.

During his speech, the Imam of Masjid-e-Nabawi (SAW), Sheikh Dr. Salah Bin Muhammad Al Budair, and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Bin Saeed Al Maliky were present in the VVIP gallery.

In response, the opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan from PTI said, “I also wanted to speak on many issues, but it is a matter of honoring our esteemed guest who is sitting in the VVIP gallery.”
